JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Financial Analyst – Accounting will be responsible for full cycle accounting, which includes participating in close activities such as recording journal entries, completing reconciliations and analysis of assigned general ledger (G/L) accounts; and lease accounting under IFRS 16. In addition, identifying and recommending process improvements and ensuring adherence to accounting principles and standards and internal controls.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in accounting close activities, including preparing journal entries, reviewing supporting files for reasonability and accuracy and analysis of assigned G/L accounts.
- Responsible for lease accounting under IFRS 16 utilizing lease accounting software and liaison with internal and external teams
- Monitors monthly accruals of assigned G/L accounts.
- Prepares reconciliations of assigned G/L accounts.
- Prepares reports for Manager and/or Finance team when requested.
- When required, assists Manager with review of balanced sheet accounts completed by staff
- Verifies integrity of financial data in accounting system.
- Assists staff with the troubleshooting and resolution of issues or problems, when necessary.
- Adheres to internal controls and drives improvements in assigned processes.
- Supports external reporting by completing consolidated financial statements note disclosure schedules
- Liaise with internal and external auditors. Responds to inquiries, information and reports, as requested.
- Participates and/or may lead projects, if required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management. Adheres to established policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of applicable accounting guidelines i.e. US GAAP or IFRS, including FX and consolidation principles
- Working knowledge and experience in lease accounting (IFRS 16 and/or ASC 842)
- Familiarity with accounting systems and the ability to quickly pick up new accounting and reporting software
- In-depth knowledge of preparing and analyzing account reconciliations
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a large organization requiring routine liaison with teams internal and external to Finance
- Ability to think critically with proven problem-solving skills and the ability to implement solutions
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines
- Strong attention to detail

CERTIFICATIONS DESCRIPTION
One or more accounting designations, such as CPA or CFA required.
