JOB SUMMARY

The Research Consultant provides technical support to the Trade Management Consulting group. Acting as a member of the project they support in areas such as Special Trade Programs (NAFTA, ROO), classifications, research, case preparation, and project completion. 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform complex data analysis and interpretation of information received from clients/consultants.
  • Monitor and manage the level of service being provided to ensure that we can meet our customer’s expectations and needs.
  • Validate country specific import/export documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise in customs regulation on projects.
  • Prioritize and complete work according to project demands, customs requirements, and Livingston standards.
  • Manage small projects or portions thereof, i.e. Classification, Valuation, CF28/CF29, FTA, ADD/CVD, etc. and act as the lead in the absence of a project manager.
  • Participate fully with other team members in the day today operation of the team, including setting priorities, organizing and schedule work, coordinating with others, problem solving and decision making, participating in meetings and handling projects. 
  • Manage client issues on assigned projects by developing action plans and monitoring progress. 
  • Assist when necessary to help the team meet its performance objectives.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with clients. 
  • In a support role to the Project Manager, may visit client sites periodically to ensure Client’s needs are being met.
  • Review and analyzes changes in regulation/trade initiatives and identifies impact to client base and project. 
  • Assist the Project Manager in coordinating the set-up of new clients.
  • Ensure that databases are created correctly and optimize regulation in the client’s best interests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management. 
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Excellent knowledge of Trade and Customs Regulations.
  • Strong analytical and attention to detail skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong customer service orientation. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle large volumes of work, and meet tight deadlines.

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED

5 years of related experience

EDUCATION

Required: Associates Degree or post-secondary education
