JOB SUMMARY

Livingston is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Customs Logistics Intern to support our customs operations team remotely. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn about international trade, customs regulations, and supply chain management. The intern will assist in various day-to-day activities related to customs documentation, import/export processes, compliance, and customer service. This internship will provide valuable exposure to the logistics industry and contribute to the smooth functioning of our operations. The ideal candidate takes initiative, feels comfortable in a fast paced work environment, is highly detail-oriented, is a great communicator both written and verbal and is comfortable using technology to assist in the various initiatives.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customs Documentation:
    o    Assist in preparing and reviewing customs documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required paperwork.
    o    Ensure accuracy and completeness of customs documentation, adhering to applicable regulations and guidelines.
    o    Collaborate with the customs operations team to verify and update data in customs management systems.
    o    Assist in the creating, updating, and maintenance of key performance indicators thought the documentation process.
  • Import Processes:
    o    Support the coordination and tracking of import/export shipments.
    o    Assist in communicating with customers, suppliers, and customs authorities to facilitate the movement of goods.
    o    Learn about customs clearance processes, including tariff classifications, valuation, and duty calculations.
    o    Customs entry filing and applicable submission of partner government agencies
    o    Assist in the creating, updating, and maintenance of key performance indicators thought the entry process.
  • Entry and Compliance:
    o    Assist in conducting compliance checks to ensure adherence to customer operating procedures, customs regulations, laws, and company policies.
    o    Learn about trade compliance practices, including sanctions, restricted party screening, and customs audits.
    o    Assist in maintaining accurate records of customs-related activities and documentation.
    o    Assist in the creating, updating, and maintenance of key performance indicators thought the compliance process.
  • Customer Service:
    o    Provide support to customers regarding customs-related inquiries, clarifications, and updates on shipment status.
    o    Collaborate with the customer service team to ensure timely and accurate communication with clients.
    o    Strive to deliver exceptional customer service, addressing customer concerns and resolving issues in a professional manner.
  • Process Improvement:
    o    Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in customs operations.
    o    Contribute to ongoing projects aimed at streamlining customs procedures and enhancing operational effectiveness.
    o    Provide suggestions for optimizing workflow and documentation management systems.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • •    Strong organizational and time management skills.
    •    Currently pursuing a degree in logistics, supply chain management, international trade, or related field.
    •    Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    •    Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    •    Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
    •    Technological savviness
    •    Willingness to jump in and be proactive – able to anticipate needs
    •    Professional demeanor

EDUCATION
