JOB SUMMARY

This role utilizes the data lake platform and its data assets that are built & maintained by the Data Analytics team. Assists in the entire lifecycle from analysis, design, and development through testing, deployment, and support of solutions. This role requires experience with Amazon Web Services or similar cloud environment and an interest & willingness to explore multi-cloud deployments since Livingston’s data lake includes data from other cloud and on-premise sources. Will closely partner with Data Products and Business Intelligence & Analytics teams to deliver value for both internal and external clients. The focus on data architecture requires some overlap with understanding infrastructure in a cloud setup. Additionally, role will involve understanding business needs and identifying opportunities to employ best practices around tools supported by the Data Analytics team. Because data platforms at Livingston have a 24/7 requirement this role will coordinate and assign tasks to offshore resources.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the business's centralized data repository including tasks, but not limited to:
  • Generating code/queries/scripts that leverage many enterprise and public data sources into a central model maintained in data lake
  • Identify new data sources and facilitate data pipeline creation and complete data extraction from source systems 
  • Model data and develop scenarios with scientific rigor to drive strategy recommendations
  • Oversee documentation of processes in order to optimize and systemically approach improvement and revisions to execute best practices
  • Research industry trends in order to give expert advice to leadership on technology investment decisions
  • Participate business transformation initiatives from concept, through testing, to final implementation in order to move other employees/teams to a data driven environment
  • Provide professional guidance to decision makers by helping to organize and explain new data sources in the context of increasing efficiency and driving revenue
  • Assist in the definition, design and delivery of new data sources and pipelines within the Livingston Data Hub and additional related applications.
  • Document, monitor, and revise product requirements, process maps, use cases, user acceptance test plans, project plans, and release notes in support of application development.
  • Serve as Data Analytics subject matter expert in assisting the broader IT group in the resolution of roadblocks hindering product delivery and post-deployment support.
  • Collect and analyze data to contribute to data architecture direction to create/execute on a backlog of user stories that often require collaboration with business partners to define requirements on that backlog.
  • Coordinate and participate in user acceptance testing of functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with other data architects & engineers on defining pipelines and warehousing strategies that prepare data collected for robust analysis.
  • Assist in creating product training and documentation materials in support of the implementation and launch of Data Analytics applications.
  • Be able to assist in ad-hoc analysis when required to support mission-critical events.
  • Communicate with team, stakeholders, customers, and vendors effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with project and coding standards and processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Must have solid understanding of the development life cycle of data products.
  • Can develop hypotheses, identify data, and analyze results needed to prove or disprove hypotheses affecting business performance
  • Up to date background on data science, architecture, and engineering tooling, techniques and industry trends.
  • Must be able to combine excellent analytical capabilities and presentation & written communication skills to help make business decisions based on analytical insights
  • Ability to balance various priorities, manage resources & timelines, and plan tasks accordingly for developers, architects, and analysts
  • Must be able to think in abstract terms in order to understand how systems work together even when documentation is lacking; a strong mathematical/logical ability and interest is necessary.
  • Intellectual curiosity; should enjoy gathering and digging deeply into data to identify issues and solve problems
  • The need to understand the realities and constraints of existing systems makes effective communication essential for success
  • Environment is that of a small team within a large organization, meaning that the confidence and ability to work independently when necessary is a must while collaboration both a leader and equal team member is required.
  • Track record of using Agile and/or Kanban methodologies
  • Working knowledge of SQL & Python

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED

7 years of related experience

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Statistics or Computer Science
