JOB SUMMARY

The IT Manager, coordinates and manages all activities related to managing and maintaining application environments. In addition, designs, develops, implements, and maintains software systems to meet and achieve the overall business goals by ensuring optimal performance and minimize service interruptions.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a global team of IT staff (developers and system analysts); staff located local, near shore and/or offshore, as necessary.  
  • Manage the support, maintenance, and changes for numerous applications (25+ production apps), likely for multiple lines of business. 
  • Coordinates all activities pertaining to an application life cycle, including SDLC, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement. 
  • Consults with senior IT management team and employees at all levels about current applications and provides recommendations for improvement; analyzes and provides requirements, and ultimately develops solutions to meet those requirements. 
  • Approves all technical designs; ensures all technical designs conform to department standards.
  • Ensures all code goes through a proper code review; ensure all code conforms to coding standards.
  • Addresses and resolves all application related queries or issues escalated by team members, our business or our clients. Ensures team responds and resolves issues in a timely manner. 
  • Recommends continual improvement process of application systems and IT procedures and standards; ensures all processes meet the standard of the department.  
  • Oversees and assigns projects to specific team members to lead and/or participate as a project team member. 
  • Leads, motivates, and mentors staff, guides and supports project team members to meet project goals and timelines. Recommends training where required. 
  • Recruits, interviews, and hires team members, and evaluates and completes individual performance evaluations. Consults with Human Resources about employee relations including disciplinary action. Follows all guidelines set forth by the Human Resources department. 
  • Keeps current with technological changes in the industry.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of the entire software application and development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of various application technology stacks: Unix and Windows operating systems, Java and .Net/C#-based applications.
  • Strong people management skills including leading, performance management, mentoring, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Project Management skills including experience in all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and management, as well as our clients and their management.
  • Strong ability to think outside of the box, be resourceful and solve-problems/issues/challenges.
  • Strong customer/client orientation; must be service-oriented.
  • Advanced oral and written skills; must be able to present in technical and non-technical language. 
  • Strong communication skills, reading, writing, and speaking. 

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED

7 years of related experience
Team management experience

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent
