JOB SUMMARY

Provides consultation services to Livingston clients and others on a variety of Customs Process issues including Tariff Classification, NAFTA Compliance, Customs Valuation, Appeals and Dispute Settlement, Refunds, Machinery Remission, Drawbacks, Sales and Excis Taxes (as it relates to Customs), Seizure Appeals, Entry Audits, Anti-Dumping and other related topics.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consults with Livingston clients and non-clients through meetings, telephone, or correspondence regarding all above-mentioned phases of customs laws and regulations, present, new, or proposed.  This would include advise and representation on appeals at Revenue Canada, Regional or Headquarters level as well as appeals and presentations to dispute settlement tribunals.
  • Development and presentation of seminars and preparation of articles on items of interest to the importing community.
  • Seek opportunities to make the Livingston Consulting Group known to Livingston clients and non-clients and promote Livingston International Consulting Group as the leader in customs consulting services.
  • Responsible for generating new revenue for the company.
  • Manages, plans, and directs client projects and activities.
  • Responsible for the comprehensive human resources management of staff (e.g., team building, training, development, succession planning).  Oversees hiring, terminations, performance reviews, manpower planning and discipline.
  • Assist in the development of sales and marketing plans.
  • Assist in the forecasting and budgeting of the compliance group.
  • Preparation of consulting proposals (compliance, NAFTA, valuation, etc.) to potential clients.
  • Preparation and presentation of business development opportunities/seminars to potential clients.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. 
  • Exercise of sound judgement.
  • Capability of attracting and retaining clients and generate revenues. Self-starter.
  • Excellent knowledge of customs and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED

8 years of progressive experience

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Business
