JOB SUMMARY

We are seeing a detail-oriented Advisor to support our Global Trade Management group. The ideal candidate should have strong trade compliance principles, customs protest knowledge, post summary corretion experience and solid grasp of CBP regulations, import/export laws and HTS for accurate classification of goods. This is a remote, day shift. 

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive action on upcoming tasks and escalate issues and risks in a timely fashion. 
  • Provide detailed reports to appropriate leadership.
  • Review the work of individuals in entry-level positions as needed.
  • Monitor Customs regulations and industry changes to ensure alignment within Livingston processes, systems, training, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Understanding of Customs Regulations: import/export laws, and international trade agreements. This includes familiarity with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) for accurate classification of goods.
  • Post Summary Correction (PSC) Expertise: Experience with PSCs is preferred, including understanding their purpose (to amend entry summary data before liquidation), eligibility requirements (e.g., entry must be accepted, in CBP control, paid, and not under CBP review), and timing limitations (e.g., within 300 days from entry date and at least 15 days before liquidation).
  • Customs Protest Knowledge: Familiar with the CBP protest process, understanding that it's a formal objection to CBP decisions 
  • Trade Compliance Principles: Foundation in broader trade compliance, including valuation, duty rates, and trade programs (e.g., Free Trade Agreements), is essential to identify discrepancies and potential cost savings.
  • Documentation Acumen: Ability to review and understand import/export documentation such as shipping documents, bills of lading, and invoices.
  • Proficiency with Customs Software: Experience with customs brokerage software and government systems like the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) 
  • Data Management: Capability to work with databases and Excel
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced knowledge of programs like Excel for data analysis and Word/Outlook for communication is required.
  • Meticulous Attention to Detail
  • The ability to analyze complex data, identify discrepancies, investigate root causes of errors, and develop corrective actions is critical for both PSCs and protests.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Given the potential for challenges in obtaining information or resolving complex issues, a candidate should be persistent in pursuing necessary details and proactive in implementing solutions.
  • The role involves managing multiple corrections and protests within strict deadlines, requiring strong organizational abilities and the capacity to multitask under pressure.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED

4 years of related experience

EDUCATION

Preferred: Bachelors Degree or equivalent

Base salary is one component of our total rewards package which also includes incentive opportunities, benefits, and professional development. Salary ranges are established by location and reflect relevant factors such as skills, experience, and market conditions. The good-faith salary range for this position is $87,875.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on these factors and may vary accordingly.
